Props List
For my music video - there was only one prop used and planned. The rest was natural and unplanned and aimed to maintain the integrity of nature. The aim of my music video was to be as natural as possible and we only used what we already had and thought necessary. For example, the hats that we both wear in the video are part of a well thought-out costume.
The only prop that was used intentionally was David's guitar. This was so that we could feature a musical instrument to be playing the melody of the song in which Alex Turner plays in Hiding Tonight. David is avidly playing guitar and his skills are improving everyday, I thought it would be best that he play the song and I film him with it. This not only makes my music video look more professional but it also makes for some beautiful shots.

Feedback for Ancillary Drafts

Above are the drafts for my ancillaries. From top to bottom they go - Digipak idea 1, Digipak idea 2, magazine ad idea 1, magazine ad idea 2.
Below are the responses I got from my google forms questionnaire to gain feedback.
The general feedback says that Idea 2 for the digipak was preferred and Idea 2 for the magazine ad was also preferred. I will take the comments that my target audience have suggested on board when drafting my digipak and magazine ad.

Ancillary Drafting Process for my Digipak

For my first draft of my digipak, I used lots of vibrant images and screen caps from my music video. I thought that the use of the couple from the music video would help tie in the whole theme and bring recognised identity to the campaign. However, after editing the images and putting them in place on the digipak, it came to my attention that I had to market my campaign as the artist not just the music video.

I thought that I'd incorporate subtle elements of my music video by using the drawing of the hats that I'd already produced for my magazine ad to keep the synergy of the campaign. I decided that I would use images of David as the artist alone to promote his look and music aside from another person.

I then began to edit the images I would need for my next draft of my digipak. After some manipulation I had produced the next draft and was quite pleased with this. This is shown the left and I feel works well with each of it's elements and colours.
This is the final draft of my digipak. I think that it encompasses everything I wished it to and it strikes a balance well between colour and black and white and is appealing to my target audience and looks professional.
Ancillary Drafting Process for a Magazine Ad Part 2

I continued to see what my ad would look like against a black background and some sort of border to go around the hats. I initially thought that this looked nice and worked well with the black and white title at the top reading 'hiding tonight' all in lowercase because I thought it looked more adult with capitals. I liked that it looked more childish and incorrect this way fitting into the theme of innocence again. I realised that the detail reading 'SUBMARINE ALBUM RELEASE' was incorrect and needed to say EP release.

After adding the hats into the square and adding the rest of the details, I realised that the square immediately around the hats gives a claustrophic feeling and draws immediate focus to the hats instead of the important details elsewhere on the ad. I stretched the square out to a rectangle to give the whole ad a border and felt that this worked much better and gave all aspects of the ad equal attention.
After changing the rectangle, I thought that this was the final draft of the poster until it came to my attention that there was no artist name or the actual title of the EP that was being released. I had put the singular track name for the music video at the top instead of the EP as a whole - Submarine. I have now edited this so that it works effectively as a magazine ad with all the correct information. I have not added the record label (like the Arctic Monkeys poster above) because I prefered just the singular image and text like the Kasabian ad.
The rainbow texts aims to stand out in a different way and add a little bit of colour to be original in my ideas and to show another childish and playful element.
My final poster has the name most important details in white - the name of the EP, the name of the artist and the release date. The title of the EP is in lowercase and almost appearrs to be floating against the black background which links in with the imagery of a real submarine.
The capital use of the other texts displayed on the add emphasis and show difference from the most important piece of text - Submarine.
The release date is clear and in a different font because the one downloaded, MSC, would not function with numbers. I picked the closest playful font that I could find and used this. The additional information at the bottom tells the audience exactly what will be available from the release date - giving the audience what they so desire.

Planning Ideas
At the minute, I'm looking at 4 songs that I'd like to use.
Meeting Place - The Last Shadow Puppets
My Boy - Billie Eilish
Bloodflood - Alt J
Hiding Tonight - Alex Turner
None of these songs have a music video so there wouldn't be much of an issue with any of them.
At the minute I'm definitely leaning toward Hiding Tonight because i've already had lots of ideas for what I could do for it.
Having inspiration from the film Submarine, dir. Richard Ayoade, I would like to create a love story that follows a couple through adventures and their romance. I would like it to be filmed completely outdoors because artificial light does not bode with the camera and doesn't make for very pretty and natural shots. I hope to enhance the colours to make them look bright and bold.
This would be the ideal way to move forward at the minute.
In Submarine, there is a scene that uses the same song - Hiding Tonight - to a montage of a young couple doing a similar sort of thing. I would like to put my own spin on Oliver and Jordana's romance and create something beautifully crafted.
If I were to conduct this idea and orchestrate it into a music video, I would use local outdoor areas in Nottingham, for example, Highfields, The University of Nottingham's campus and places in Toton's Sidings. I think these are all easy-to-get-to places that provide the kind of natural beauty that i'm hoping to capture.
